Bio

Darin is an accomplished sales professional and published author, expert in learning and development training. Recognized by and named CPLP Fellow by ATD (formerly ASTD), a prestigious recognition held by fewer than 10 people worldwide. Multimillion-dollar revenue producer with exceptional record of success managing sales cycle from prospecting through contract negotiation and deal close in highly competitive industries and markets. Secured agreements and multi–year contracts with globally recognized technology leaders.  Produced and presented comprehensive training curriculum and programs in the technology, education, engineering, and Department of Energy sectors.

Prior to D. E. Hartley Consulting, Darin worked with a non-profit professional association, BICSI, providing business development support for its Information & Communications Technology (ICT) industry focused content, standards, courseware, and credentials.

Darin’s consulting firm The Janus Experience, provided strategic consulting related to content marketing, compliance training, sales readiness and coaching, as well as technology selection support.  He wrote dozens of articles, blog posts, and white papers to drive organic traffic into his clients’ sites and produced a Webinar series.  At Intrepid Learning, Darin started as a Director of Client Development where he provided strategic consulting to clients and leveraged his Job Analysis at the Speed of Reality (JASR) process to catalyze longer-term relationships.  He ultimately was a VP of Sales there and sold more than $40M worth of professional services to many clients including Microsoft, United Rentals, Facebook, Twitter, and many others.

Prior to Intrepid Learning, Darin worked at ASTD (now ATD) launching a new eLearning Courseware Certification (ECC) Program.  Darin was at Dell prior to ASTD and launched the first eLearning in the company as a Senior Instructional Designer.  He ultimately managed the instructional design team for Dell University and then became the Learning Technology Program Manager, where he provided strategic consulting on implementing new learning technologies into the enterprise.

Earlier roles include Senior Instructional Designer & Trainer at EG&G/Lockheed Martin and Instructional Designer & Trainer at General Physics.  Darin was in United States Navy, as a Machinist Mate 1st Class, Engineering Laboratory Technician and Nuclear Power Plant Operator.

Darin has written four books focused on workplace learning and performance, has written chapters for other published books, and numerous articles.

Darin earned a Master’s degree in Training Management from the Idaho State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Training from Idaho State University.
